2016 $1000 Scholarship Winners

Tobi

Jacob McWherter
Madison Academic High School

Jacob McWherter, a student at Madison Academic High School, is the son of Betty and Mike McWherter. Jacob is not only the recipient of a $1000 scholarship; he is also an Eagle Scout and will receive a $250 Eagle Scout Merit Award. Jacob received Madison's 2014-15 award for most service hours and has been an ER volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital since 2012. Jacob plans to attend M.T.S.U. Jacob would like to become a pilot working with law enforcement or the government or in the mission field.

Chloe White
Jackson Christian School

Chloe White, a student at Jackson Christian School, is also a recipient of a $1000 award. She is the daughter of Kristy and Tony White. She plans to attend Belmont University to become a music therapist. Chloe has been a member of the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra for five years, a Symphony Ambassador for four years, and was the musical director for the Crockett County Arts Council's production of The Rockin' Tale of Snow White. Chloe plans to help others by providing therapy through the "universal language of music."

 

 

 

Sam Bomar Memorial Scholarship in memory of Lavenia Cruze- $1000

Mason Cagle, a student at South Side High School, has received a $1000 award in memory of Lavenia Cruze. Lavenia was called home to Heaven on January 20, 2016, after a brief illness. Lavenia's life exhibited both her faith and her devotion to her family especially to her parents (now deceased) and to her sister Lois, who survives her. Mason is the son of Kim and Mark Cagle and plans to attend Union University.
